About Us

Become A Member

As a non-profit cooperative, NIHFCU offers membership "shares" to you in the form of savings deposits. The earnings on your savings are called dividends (interest). And, based upon the Credit Union principle of equality, each member has one vote – regardless of the balance (or number of shares) in his or her savings account.

Eligibility

Not only are NIH associates, contractors and their family members eligible to join NIHFCU, we offer membership to associates (and family members) of over 60 other fine organizations and establishments.

Family Eligibility

Your family members are also encouraged to join you as a member of NIHFCU. This includes: your spouse, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, uncles, aunts, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, step-brothers, step-sisters, step-children, children for whom a Credit Union member is the legal guardian, and people who regularly live with a member and who share joint financial responsibilities with that member.

If you wish to sponsor a family member, you must complete a sponsorship application form.

Once a Member, Always a Member! Once you join NIHFCU, you can remain a member for life, even if you change jobs, retire or move away. That way, you, as well as your family members, can continue to enjoy all the benefits of NIHFCU membership.
