Eligibility
Employees, independent contractors, or self-employed persons who work regularly in the Healthcare Industry in the District of Columbia and the states of Maryland, West Virginia and Virginia meaning that they work at or provide the following services or products:
*Ambulatory care providers *Assisted living facilities that provide healthcare services- Birthing centers
- Blood, organ and tissue banks
- Dentists
- Emergency medical care
- Health clinics
- Health rehabilitation centers
- Health maintenance organizations (HMO)
- Home health care
- Hospices
- Hospitals
- Licensed therapists
- Medical and diagnostic labs
- Medical facilities
- Medical research facilities
- Medical transcription services
- Nursing homes
- Nursing services
- Offices of chiropractors
- Ophthalmologists
- Optometrists
- Orthopedics
- Orthopedists
- Pain centers
- Paramedic services
- Pharmacy services
- Physicians

Family eligibility
NIHFCU members can also sponsor their immediate family for membership. This includes: their spouse, parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, children, grandchildren, uncles, aunts, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, step-brothers, step-sisters, step-children, children for whom a Credit Union member is the legal guardian, and people who regularly live with a member and who share joint financial responsibilities with that member.
If you wish to sponsor a family member, you must complete a sponsorship application form.
