NIH Federal Credit Union Announces GW Cancer Institute Donation
Rockville, MD (10/28/08) – The National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union (NIHFCU) announced today that it will donate $2 to the University’s Cancer Institute for every point scored by the school’s men’s and women’s basketball team during all in-conference home games throughout the 2008/2009 season.
NIHFCU – the official credit union of The George Washington University since 1993 – has been a lead sponsor of the University’s basketball program since 2004. Steven S. Levin, NIHFCU’s Vice President of Marketing stated, “As we entered our fifth year as a proud sponsor, it was important for us to find a way to give back to the University for all its support of the credit union over the years. Partnering with The GW Cancer Institute was a perfect way for us to support the important work the University is doing on behalf of Cancer research – and do so in a fun way.”
Dr. Steven Patierno, Executive Director of the GW Cancer Institute expressed his appreciation, “We are delighted to be working with the NIH Federal Credit Union. Creative programs like this one not only raise valuable funds that further our research and community outreach efforts, but also awareness about the importance of cancer education, prevention and early detection”.
The home conference schedule begins Saturday, January 10 (men) and Wednesday, January 14 (women).
