Rockville, MD (February 3, 2009) – The National Institutes of Health Federal Credit Union (NIHFCU) announced today that its Board of Directors has named Juli Anne Callis as its new President and Chief Executive Officer. This appointment is effective on March 16, 2009. Callis follows Lindsay A. Alexander who retired in December after nearly twenty distinguished years with NIHFCU in the same position.

Callis joins NIHFCU with over twenty years of credit union leadership experience. Most recently, and for the past ten years, Callis served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer for KeyPoint Credit Union (Santa Clara, CA) and President of KeyPoint Financial Services, a mortgage CUSO. Prior to these appointments, Callis held the position of Vice President of Emerging Technology and Business Development for the credit union. Callis launched her credit union career at Langley Federal Credit Union (Hampton, VA) where she served as its Vice President of Marketing and Public Relations from 1988-1995. Callis holds a Master’s Degree from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor’s of Science Degree from East Carolina University.

An established leader and pacesetter, Callis is at the forefront of technological innovation in the credit union industry, and has pioneered several advancements geared towards the globally mobile population and the tech-savvy consumer. Under the leadership of Callis, KeyPoint Credit Union received the 2007 Online Banking Report “Best of Web” award for launching the industry’s first ever FaceBook Banking Application. Callis has also guided the credit union’s development of its international remittance program – a more convenient and less expensive alternative to traditional wire transfers. In addition, Callis helped KeyPoint Credit Union receive the 2008 Best Credit Union Award (Milpitas, CA), and several awards for the its Financial Literacy program developed for local elementary schools.

Callis has been the recipient of several awards throughout her professional career including the Woman in Industry Award Silicon Valley, the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) Marketer of the Year and numerous other awards bestowed by CUES, the Credit Union National Association and the Bank Marketing Association.

In making the announcement, Mr. Steven J. Berkowitz, the Chairman of the Board of the NIHFCU, stated “We are thrilled with the selection of Juli Anne as our next CEO.
