NIH Federal Credit Union offers an extensive benefits package for full and part-time employees that include:
|Health / Dental / Vision Insurance
||Health insurance benefits are provided to full and part-time employees (working 32 hrs) through Blue Cross Blue Shield CareFirst PPO. This coverage includes major medical, hospitalization, and a prescription drugs. Involves minimal employee cost sharing.
Dental and Vision benefits are provided to full and part-time associates (working 32 hours) – Dental is through Guardian, and Vision through VSP. Involves minimal employee cost sharing.
||NIHFCU provides life insurance and accidental death and dismemberment coverage to full-time employees through Prudential Life Insurance. Coverage amounts for both plans are equivalent to three times annual salary. The Credit Union pays for 100 percent of the monthly premium amount.
|Long-term Disability Coverage
||Long-term disability coverage is provided to full-time associates through Prudential Life Insurance. The Credit Union pays 100 percent of the monthly premium amount.
||Annual leave is based on years of service as follows:
Vacation leave may be carried-over from one calendar year to the next calendar year with a maximum carry over of 240 hours.
- All full-time eligible employees: 10 days
- Director, Manager: 15 days
- SVP, VP: 20 days
- CEO, President, EVP: 25 days
- Part-time empoyees: Pro-rated
|Sick Leave Benefits
||Full-time employees can earn up to 13 days per calendar year which may be carried over to the next year.

|401K Retirement Savings Plan
||NIHFCU offers a 401K Retirement Savings Plan through CUNA Mutual Group. With this plan, employees may defer (up to IRS max) a portion of their bi-weekly earnings on a pre-tax basis. After a year, the Credit Union matches 100 percent of the first 3 percent and 50 percent of the next next 3%. Join in 90 days where employer match begins in 1 year. Both full-time and part-time employees may be eligible.
|Tuition Assistance Program
||The Credit Union recognizes the importance of continued education for personal growth and career development. You may apply for assistance for matriculated course work toward a degree or certificate within program paramenters.
|Employee Assistance Program
||NIHFCU offers an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) through LifeWork Strategies. The EAP provides counseling and referral services free of charge to all employees and their immediate family members.
|SmartBenefits / Free Parking
||NIHFCU offers free parking at its corporate headquarters and branch locations. In lieu of the parking benefit, associates who currently use public transportation to commute from home to work, and employees who switch from driving to using public transportation can receive up SmartBenefits from NIHFCU. In addition, employees can have up to maximum allowed withheld from their paycheck each month on a pre-tax basis.
||Credit Union employees have the opportunity to open a variety of accounts, which include Share Draft (checking). In addition, other savings plans, loans and services are available.
