Greenpath – FAQs

Learn more about Greenpath Financial Wellness

Yes. Generally financial counseling, including credit counseling and debt counseling are free. Some of our specialized services, such as reverse mortgage and home-buyer assistance have a fee.3

No appointment is needed to talk to a counselor by phone. Use the “Request a Call” form, or call us 877-337-3399 to talk to the Client Services team.

The first general counseling session takes about an hour, although it will depend on your unique situation and what you need to accomplish your goals.

No problem! We can complete as much as you have time for, and finish up at a more convenient time. You can also schedule an appointment to be called when you will be available.

One of the first things a counselor will do with you is put together your budget. Having an idea of your income and expenses is helpful, but not required.

All client information is secure and confidential. GreenPath will not share your information with anyone without your permission. We also do not report to credit bureaus. Take a look at our Privacy Statement for more details.

GreenPath does ask you for permission to share information with NIHFCU. If you say “no,” your name is kept confidential. If you begin a debt management program, GreenPath will obtain your consent before it proposes payment arrangements to your creditors.

NIHFCU has partnered with GreenPath Financial Wellness to provide financial counseling, education, and debt management services. GreenPath Financial Wellness is solely responsible for the delivery and quality of those products and services.

There is a cost for a debt management plan and enhanced student loan debt counseling. A GreenPath counselor will explain those costs to you if you elect to utilize those services beyond your initial credit counseling session.
